Kelvin Liu

Dr. Liu has a BS in Bioengineering from UCSD and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He has nearly 15 years experience developing molecular analysis tools based on micro, nano, and single molecule technologies. As a veteran of 3 early stage, venture funded startups, Dr. Liu is no stranger to the startup environment. At his first startup, he invented and developed the microsensor array that became the company’s core technology and was used to obtain $14M in B-series financing. In subsequent companies, he has managed R&D projects for medical devices, MEMS sensors, and optical telecommunications devices. In total, he is an inventor on 9 patent applications and author of over 15 publications. He has received numerous awards including a prestigious Siebel Scholarship. Together, Dr. Liu and Dr. Wang have invented all the core technology in Circulomics' IP portfolio.

Dr. Hosmane earned his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University where he developed innovative micro devices that have shed light on new pathways that govern neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Hosmane has forged interdisciplinary collaborations with JHMI clinicians that have resulted in him authoring over 18 research articles, winning grants totaling $180,000, and receiving several academic awards including the prestigious NIH NRSA fellowship. He was also recently named a 2012 Siebel Scholar, a distinction given to the top graduates among the world’s leading Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, and Business programs. Dr. Hosmane is also a partner at Tam-Lee-Castillo (TLC) Business Advisors, a business strategy-consulting firm based in Baltimore, MD.
